How to clean composite wood: 5 recommendations by those who know best

Ecolegno is an easily serviceable material with conventional cleaning products

Let’s start by saying that Ecolegno special composition  makes it a material that is resistant to mould, fungi, water and atmospheric agents and, therefore, is suitable both for indoor and outdoor spaces. Furthermore it doesn’t overheat, neither it cools down depending on the temperature nor it splinters and not discolour over time, even though it stays longer in the sun. All this does not need any special maintenance.

Having said that, obviously it’s still a surface to be cleaned both inside and outside your house. Let’s see 5 tricks you need to take into account to avoid spoiling a high-quality product due to some simple mistakes.

  1. Delicate neutral detergents

Many different cleaning products specifically intended for composite wood that certainly fit the bill are commercially available. You can choose one of these products or, otherwise, a basic wood cleaner which is delicate, neutral and non-aggressive. In any case, it is better to spend a few euros more, but being sure that you have a high-quality detergent.

  1. No fear of water

Unlike natural wood which can’t tolerate humidity Ecolegno is is  perfectly waterproof material. Therefore, you can use a neutral wood product for daily cleaning: apply it with a cloth or use a pressure cleaner, pat it gently and finally rinse with water.

  1. Without oils or paints

Thanks to its highly innovative and technological composition Ecolegno does not need any special maintenance, but it may be treated like any other types of flooring or decking. You won’t need any special machineries neither oils, paints or special treatments: another reason why we can say that Ecolegno is eco-friendly and environmentally-friendly.

  1. What to do in case of light stains

Although Ecolegno is very resistant, it may happen that it stains for some reason. A mild laundry soap like the true Marseille soap is enough for light stains: apply it on the stain, pat gently and rinse. If it’s an oily stain, you can use a degreaser within 24 hours, leave on for 30 minutes and then rinse. If more than 24 hours have elapsed, a stain remover is actually more effective.

  1. And what about stubborn stains?

If it is not possible to remove the stain even after having washed with laundry soap, you can apply a universal degreaser, the same that it is used to clean a hot plate. Leave it on the stain for at least 30 minutes and then rinse, but do not let product residuals on composite wood.
